5 Steps To Prepare For Your First Life Coaching Session

If you are about to start your journey of self-discovery with a Life Coach it would be a good idea to prepare yourself well so that you can attain the best results and feel fulfilled with the process.

Here are five steps you can take to make sure you obtain the full benefits from your Coaching Experience.

Step 1: Understand what Coaching is about.

Your first step is to understand the difference between Coaching and other forms of Counselling or therapy. Coaching is not concerned with problems of the past or with therapeutic interventions. Coaching is focused on where you are now and where you want to go. It is a dynamic process of self-discovery and is concerned with tapping your peak potential and helping you to take control of the process. Unlike other therapies such as Counselling, Umcka cold care Life Coaching is not focused on providing advice or counsel. It is about helping the person gain insights and discover new answers and ways of doing things in an empowering fashion while remaining answerable to agreed goals. So your first step should be to put yourself in the right frame of mind- that is a state of mind that is geared towards taking an active part in the process and feeling a sense of ownership, anticipation for results and readiness to achieve.

Step 2: Make sure you fill in the Coaching Assessment

The Assessment a Coach may send you to fill in prior to your meeting will help you to focus your ideas and gain clarity about the goals you want to achieve. Each question will help you to hone your thoughts into a resourceful state of mind so that you will be able to go for your first session fully excited and geared up for the work.

Step 3: Reflect quietly and seek information from others

As part of your Assessment you may be asked to reflect on certain aspects of your life which may not be straight forward or easy to answer. Take time to connect to nature and find ways to relax your mind and focus on the questions. It would also be useful to gain some insights from your friends or family who may discern certain aspects that you may not be aware of yourself. Try to gain as much clarity as possible. Remember Coaching is a journey of self -discovery. Give time to reflect on your Coaching Assessment form and do not rush through it. This is not your Income Tax Compliance Form!

Step 4: Commit yourself to the Coaching process

Your Life Coach may request you to commit yourself to the process with full intention. This means that you would work diligently on any goals you agree between you, keep your appointment times, remain open to new ideas and remain focused on achieving your peak performance. You need to really create this sense of urgency to work on your goals and to appreciate how great it is to have someone you are answerable to and who will help you to zap away any procrastination you may have.

Step 5: Go with a clear set of Goals

Before you set off for your first Session with your Life Coach make sure you have at least one big compelling goal you want to achieve or one specific challenge you would like to tackle. You may also consider to take a small list of mini goals you may want to achieve in different areas of your life such as your Environment, Money, Career, Health, Family & Friends, Love life, Growth, Contribution and Spirituality.

The most important thing is to go for your first Life Coaching session with a sense of excitement and resourcefulness so that you can embark on a journey of self-discovery that can lead to big and positive breakthroughs in your life.
